Pricewatchers.... using SavingsAngel.com

I've been using PriceWatchers now for a few months (read my original post here) and I find I really enjoy it. Today I took the kids to Preschool Playtime (at the local community center) and turned them loose and of course the conversation turned to using coupons and how none of us are able to do much (no time ya know?) - so I told them about PriceWatcher which is a sorta new program that SavingsAngel.com released back in October or November.

The basics of PriceWatcher (and I haven't seen this on any other couponing sites) is that you (the consumer) can set up products that you purchase regularly (or ones you'd like to try but are out of your budget) and set a pricepoint you are willing to spend - once everything is set up -

SavingsAngel.com starts looking for coupons and sales on those items and then they send out a daily email telling you where you can find them as well as links to the coupons (or where you can find them).

Please note: there is a small charge for using SavingsAngel - but I find that the savings more than makes up for that small amount and if you click on the ad right above this paragraph you can try it RISK FREE (just because I love you - awww)

When I set up my alerts I put a 30% off request and so what I see on my email is all the products I'm interested in - at the stores I specified - at 30% off or better.

I updated my Savings page so you'll want to check that out. Cheryl at Simply CVS contacted me and shared her link.  That website has SO MUCH information on about how to save serious money at CVS.  Be sure to check it out.  I actually had to do a search here in Omaha to see if we had a CVS, and we do, but it's clear on the other side of town - I mean 1/2 hour to 45 minutes away.  (Yes, Omaha is a BIG city)

Omaha is the home of Boys Town, College World Series baseball, Campbell Soup, Creighton University, Henry Doorly Zoo, Joslyn Art Museum & Castle.  You'll find Malcolm X's birthplace along with Gerald Ford's.  West of town is the Eugene T. Mahoney State Park, Strategic Air & Space Museum and Wildlife Safari on I-80.  If your gardner you don't want to miss the Lauritzen Gardens, Heartland of American Park & Fountain, Lewis and Clark Landing and of course there's The Old Market.  It's a great place to visit.  You can almost always find something to do and a lot of it's FREE!    Here'a great map to look at! Last week I made this scrumptious Chicken & Rice dish I found during one of my blog hops.  It was wonderful. I'll post the recipe and put a few things I thought would be a nice change for it.  I'm not really crazy about gravy, but it does make it extremely moist and the chicken just fell apart.

Chicken & Rice
3 chicken breasts
1 can of Cream of Chicken Soup
1 white onion, chopped
1 Uncle Ben's Ready Whole Grain Medley (I used the Vegetable Harvest version)

Put the chicken breasts in the bottom of your crock pot and put the onion on top.  Pour the soup over all.  Set your crockpot to low and cook 7-8 hours.  Pour the rice in the gravy mixture and serve.

Now, what I would do differently:
1.  I used a 1/2 onion and remembered why I use the chopped onion from Walmart's freezer section.
My eyes throb and feel like someone is stabbing them!  Use the frozen ones - it's much better!)
2.  I liked the Uncle Bens mix - it's already cooked and ready to go.  Pkg says to cook it for 90 seconds (I think, but it burst in the microwave so maybe I'll open the package first). LOL
3.  Like I said earlier, I don't care for gravy so I think next time I'll take the chicken out and set the chicken aside.  I'll make up one of the Mixes from Near East like their Pilaf or Wild Rice mixes.  You could add mushrooms, nuts, fruits, veggies to either of these versions.  Their mixes are 100% natural and delicious as a side dish or added to a main dish.  I really like the taste, their organic and the recipes I've made from the boxes have all been very tasty.  You can find them at Walmart, HyVee and Whole Foods.
4.  The other thing I think I would do differently is serve it with a salad or maybe Broccoli.  Add some color, you know?
