Homeopathic Medicines - how do you use them?

Automn familyI've been hearing so many people talking about how their family members have been sick for so long with this nasty FLU bug that is going around. I talked to my sister a couple days before Christmas and her 5 year old actually came in from playing and put herself to bed. The boys got sick and then everyone got sick at my parent's house when they went home (thinking they were over the worst of it) for Christmas. Now their whole family is sick - Tara closed her daycare for a week, Nate has been off work for a week and the kids well, they're up and down (you know how it is). Another friend's 3 kids have been sick with it - and the 5 year old ended up in the hospital. Me? Well, I just tell 'em all to stay away!

The more I sit here I'm thinking what can I do other than disinfecting my house? I want to use medicines that are natural, don't interfere with the pain medicines, anti-inflammatories and vitamins that I take for my Fibromyalgia - so what is there that I can use? Enter Boiron!

Boiron manufacturers Homeopathic Medicines that are approved by the Homeopathic Pharmacopoeia of United States (HPUS). For our purpose today we are going to talk about 2 medicines today that will help your family with the flu and colds. The KEY with both of these medicines is to take them at the ONSET of your illness - don't wait until it's full developed. Why? Because if you take them at the onset you will avoid getting all the symptoms and they won't get as bad either.

OscillococcinumFor the flu: Onset of Symptoms are feeling run-down, scratchy, tingly throat, and the chills

For a Cold: Onset of Symptoms are sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion, minor sore throat pain

Full Blown Flu symptoms are: Chills, Body Aches & Pain, Fever, Sneezing, Runny Nose, Nasal Congestion, Minor Sore Throat Pain

You'll notice with the Full Blown Flu symptoms that the sneezing, runny nose, nasal congestion and sore throat symptoms are the same.
So if you start with Oscillo for a cold you are still treating the flu symptoms before you actually get the full blown deal & hopefully you will alleviate the worst of it.

Most of you have heard about:
Oscillococcinum - Oscillo helps to relieve flu-like symptoms such as fatigue, headache, body aches, chills and fever. Safe for everyone ages 2 & up.
You may not of heard about:
Chestal® HoneyChestal Cough Syrups - Chestal helps to temporarily relieve a dry cough and also helps with loosening mucus and thinning bronchial secretions to make coughs more productive. Children's Chestal is safe for anyone 2 years and older (avoid using it with infants due to the honey it's made with).
  • How to use: Take the entire unit-dose and let it dissolve in the mouth at the onset of either cold or flu symptoms and take every 6 hours
  • Occillococinum comes in little tubes with tiny pellets in them, you take the entire tube and put the pellets under your tongue and wait for them to dissolve. Adults/children: Dissolve entire contents of one tube in the mouth every 6 hours, up to 3 times a day.
  • Chestal Cough Syrup - Adults take 2 tsps every 2 hours (10 ML) and Children 2-12 take  1 tsp every 2 hours (5 ML). With the Children's Chestal children 2+ take 1 tsp every 2 hours (5 ML). (As you can see it looks like they are interchangeable. BUT read the instructions on the bottle to be sure)
  • Details about both medicines show that they are:Safe for everyone 2+, No Known side effects, No Drug interactions, Non-drowsy
Man I could of used this Chestal w/ Honey when I was sick with that awful Upper Respiratory crud back in October - well, now I'm prepared for it! Hopefully it won't come knocking!
