The Common Core Assessment Record Book is a handy tool for teachers or homeschoolers with kids Grade K-5. I know many homeschoolers don't work with Common Core but what I particularly like about this record book is that not only does it keep track of my kids' accomplishments, I can do my planning, refer to when I taught my kids a certain skill, keep notes about what worked and what didn't and basically use it for guidance & then monitor their progress. I like that idea.
I can also refer to the handy charts that show me what my kids should of learned last year and what they will learn next year and I find that would be very helpful. This handy tool is color coded, has a little space for notes on each kid and it's very easy to read and use.
What I would like to see is a similar book for Preschoolers. Not necessarily for Common Core or for grading or testing purposes but something that shows what they need to be prepared for entering Kindergarten next year. I like that these books track when a certain skill was taught - so for beginning reading I'd be able to see what skills need to be present before I can expect them to be able to understand how letters combine to create a word and then actually comprehend the word they have sounded out.
