My thoughts:
Shattered starts out slow and was a bit hard to get into for me but once it started rolling WOW! I found it very hard to put down. The story was well thought out, full of layers and emotion which kept me thinking and involved in the story (ie - wondering what will happen next). Another plus is that the spiritual content of the book was very well done and it was nice to see each character's thought process as they considered who God was, what he had done for us and in this book it was nice to see a character who was drawn to God and leaned on him during a section of the book that was full of tension. There is a love/romantic story involved and there are 2 mysteries that are layered on top of each other. As the story gets more involved each story is clear cut and easy to follow.
I ended up loving this book even though at the beginning I struggled to stay with it. There are numerous mentions to Book 1 in the Alaskan Courage Series (Submerged, Book 1) and while Shattered can be read on it's own I definitely want to go back and read Submerged so I can get a feel for Cole & Bailey's story. This is romantic suspense at it's finest!
