About the book:
Ann Silver is a cop’s cop. As the Midwest Homicide Investigator, she is called in to help on the worst of the cases, looking for answers to murder. Hers is one of the most trusted investigative positions in the Midwest.

Paul Falcon is the FBI’s top murder cop. If the victim carried a federal badge or had a security clearance, odds are good he sees the case file or his guys work the murder.

Their lives intersect when Ann arrives to pass a case off her desk and onto his. A car wreck and a suspicious death offer a lead on a hired shooter he is tracking. Paul isn’t expecting to meet someone, the kind that goes on the personal side of the ledger, but Ann Silver has his attention.

The better he gets to know her, the more he realizes her job barely scratches the surface of who she is. She knows spies, soldiers and U.S. Marshals and has written books about them. She is friends with the former Vice President. People with good reason to be cautious about who they let into their lives deeply trust her. Paul wonders just what secrets Ann is keeping, until she shows him the John Doe Killer case file and he starts to realize just who this lady he is falling in love with really is....

My Thoughts:
If you've read the O'Malley series by Dee Henderson you'll understand what the hype is about reading Dee's books. The level of research and the well written story make for a very entertaining read. I've read the series over and over and I've always wished Dee would write ONE more book about them. Well, she has! Sorta.

The above description about the book is actually a little misleading - the book opens with Paul Falcon (the head of a department of FBI agents who has been hunting for the John Doe Killer for years) when a couple of agents/cops are attacked in his sister's restaurant and murdered.

Shortly afterward he meets Ann when she comes to him and hands over a file on the Killer. The story takes off after that.

I found the story to be very entertaining, the level of detail is there and to my surprise most of the main characters from the O'Malley series are present also. The only thing that really surprised me about the writing was how Dee writes herself into the story - I'm not going to tell you how - if you can figure it out you are a true Dee Henderson fan!

What I did like about the story is the plot and story line takes place in a broader sweep. It's not quite so contained as the O'Malley's story was. There is a strong "faith" presence that is scriptually based and it's always wonderful to see that in a Christian book. It seems most "Christian" books are missing a solid foundation from scripture. This book takes place over a number of states, the lack of influence of money (you'll see what I mean when you read it) and there is a true mystery behind Ann's story. I'm really trying to not tell you to much here... LOL

If you have a day, love a good thriller or murder mystery and want a series you'll get sucked into - you can pre-order the book right now on Amazon. It's already on sale & at $8.25 for a paperback a great book for the upcoming holidays & Secret Santa!
