Giveaway - Rock N Learn Phonics

How many of you remember how hard it was to learn ALL the rules of grammer, spelling, reading, and writing?

Rock ’N Learn® DVD Videos and Audio CDs

Capture Kids’ Attention and Get Results

I received an INCREDIBLE DVD that teaches kids how to read using rhythm, music, visual cues, letter recognition and repetition.  Think Electric Company & Sesame Street for older kids crossed with rock music, guitars, rhythm and music.  We all know that kids can listen & memorize the jingles on TV the first time they hear them and they are able to play video games and use the music to time their shots, jumps and moves.  The Rock N Learn DVD's are Award Winning, teach shapes, dancing, letters, science, math, phonics, other languages like Spanish and French, and there is even an exercise DVD and one that teaches Test Taking Strategies.

Phonics Volume 1 covers short vowels, consonants, blends and digraphs, word families, silent e and also has read along stories for the kids to practice their new reading skills.  They learn how to combine the letters B A and T to spell BAT.  And then to trade the B for a H and make the word HAT!

I was impressed to see many of the same techniques that we as parents (or as my nephews or nieces FAVORITE aunt) use as we help kids read or sound out words.  I really liked how there is a mouth on the screen and children can watch how the mouth "SOUNDS" out a word and also how delayed answers are used so children can try to sound out a word without being "told" the word.  This enables a child to actually learn to read a word instead of just memorizing the sentence or story.  The stories are really cute, using catchy rhymes and animation to hold their attention.

Best of all, practicing the phonics skills that lead to reading and spelling success is FUN.  You can stop the video and practice the different techniques being taught so they aren't overwhelming or confusing to children learning to read.  Or, you can just play it during free play and the kids can sing along or read along while they play.  Teachers and homeschooling children can use the FREE worksheets that are available for downloading from http://free-phonics-worksheets.com which was sponsored by Rock N Learn.

Would you like to know what most impressed me? They used a tap, tap, tap technique to teach children to learn to read through rhythm and it also helps them learn how many syllables a word has when they start to learn about that.  How?  Well, you'll have to WIN the video to learn how you can use this same technique with flashcards, chalkboards, spelling tests and practice.
