Halloween is only 13 Days Away!

Today I want to share a couple of few Halloween Books that I'm sure your kiddos will enjoy - mine sure do! We don't do a lot with Halloween but it seems that every year I find at least 1 cute Halloween book that isn't too scary, witchy or creepy and for my littles that is a good thing.

Boo!
by Jonathan Litton
ISBN: 978-1680105018
$7.18 (board book)
About the book:
Join Pumpkin in this fun game as he tries to figure out who said BOO! Was it Night Owl, Black Cat, Little Witch, Spider, or Wizard? Concentric circles, bright artwork, and a cheerful rhyming story make learning come alive!

My thoughts:
Boo! is a cute little book that tells a "story" where the pictures center around the circles in the middle of the book. I picked this up at Good Shepherd's yearly Scholastic Book Fair and I think we read it at least 2-3 times a week. Gianna is into this thing of sticking her finger in holes of all kinds and then running to me saying "HELP! HELP!" (she's 22 months). Basically the whole idea of the story is "WHO" is shouting "Boo" throughout the story - is the pumpkin, spider, wizard, owl, or.... as you turn each page the circles get concentrically smaller and smaller until you finally find out WHO said BOO!

This book could lead into some fun art activities or even an art invitation for your kids to experiment with Circles - they can be open, enclosed, flat, 3D. Use your imaginations and see what your kids will do with Circles on their own!

16109187Crankenstein
By Samantha Berger
ISBN: 9780316120564
$12.59 (hardback)
$9.99 (kindle)
About the book:
Beware of Crakenstein! Who is Crakenstein? He’s an ordinary kid, just like you but on a bad day, he could transform into Crakenstein! A monster of grumpiness that no one can destroy! Mehhrrr! He’s alive! Turn the pages to see this creature of crankiness you might even learn how to turn him back into a boy – if you dare!

My thoughts:
I drug this book out the other day when I was going through the kids' books and immediately got a big smile. Crankenstein is easily one of my favorite "scary" stories. I tend to really get involved with this book and wipe out my voice and the poor kids they have to wait till my voice gets re-wetted again so I can continue reading. It's a FUN one to read aloud!

The illustrations are cute, the language is cute and the characters are wonderful & memorable. What happens when 3 monsters (or so they call themselves) who live in a castle can't agree on which of them is the BEST monster? Why they make a monster!
What happens when said monster comes out all sugar sweet and with the cutest little lisp and the horrified monster trio thinks they've failed until their monster escapes from the castle and heads toward town? Well, you'll just have to read the book!

By Robin Muller
$7.99 (paperback)
ISBN: 9781935279143
(find it used on Amazon!)

About the books:
The 13 Ghosts of Halloween is one of my favorite books. The story is humorous and engaging, promotes math & counting skills, beginning reading, encourages audience participation (think story time in school or the library – or even just reading with mom & dad) and the illustrations are great too!

When you get a copy of this book in your hands try singing it to the 12 Days of Christmas song. Some of my favorite books can be put to a tune - It’s hilarious and it works & it really catches the kids' attention!

What others are saying:
“A group of children are determined to prove that they are brave, even in the face of ever increasing numbers of scary creatures. A humorous take on the original 12 Days of Christmas – a ghoulish delight for young children.” Kiss the book

I was not asked to share any of these books. They are books that I reviewed in the past on my children's blog and have pulled over here since I am no longer writing on that blog. Boo! & 13 Ghosts of Halloween are both books I purchased myself. Thanks for reading GivingNSharing! Note: The banner image at the top was a FREE image HERE
