My thoughts:

Eventide is very different from your run of the mill Amish Romance. It's not so much about the Church and myriad of rules and regulations that the Amish have to live with. It's not about making the huge decision to join the church or the risk of being shunned because you make a mistake. It's about emotion, making big decisions about the future and feeling left out and treated differently because Elsie has a disability. I really liked this book. It's a quick book to read (I read it in just a few hours) and it's very easy to connect with the characters and what Elsie and Landon are going through. It was nice to see a character that is willing to stand up for herself amongst a family that is controlling but in a loving way.

I found it interesting that this family isn't made up of the strict old order Amish. They have a phone and the kids in the family have a mind of their own. The parents aren't domineering and neither is the Bishop. Elsie has spent a lifetime losing her eyesight and the end is in sight and she has some big decisions to make.

This would be a great book to read on a rainy afternoon when you just want to curl up with a good book. After reading Eventide I am finding that I want to read the other 2 books in this series. There are obvious references to events that happened to the Grandparents (Dawdi & Mommi) in the book and it would of been interesting to read a book containing their story set 40-50 years ago (or whenever they married).
